DXF-aware tagging
Created a consistent method for associating production details with DXF files so important context travels with the work.

A purpose-built tagging system that made DXF production files easier to identify, organize, and move through a fabrication workflow.
The challenge
My approach
I mapped the information operators needed at each handoff, then designed a focused tagging workflow around the existing DXF process. The goal was to add structure without forcing the team to abandon the file format and tools already central to production.

What I built
Created a consistent method for associating production details with DXF files so important context travels with the work.
Made files and parts easier to recognize during preparation, reducing reliance on memory or manual cross-checking.
Kept the tool focused on the existing fabrication process so the added structure supported daily work instead of becoming another disconnected system.
Key decisions
The solution works with DXF files and familiar production steps rather than asking operators to translate their work into a generic system.
A consistent tag reduces repeated interpretation later and helps downstream users understand what they are working with.
